Differentiate is word that I have always had difficulty saying when discussing with colleagues about our classroom instruction. It kind is like the word Massachusetts, a word I continue to struggle with however I find every year when I try to stay these two words I always have support from educators and students. Whether is breaking it into chunks or repeating it repeatedly I feel comfortable and successful when I do finally say it correctly. The point from this is that Differentiated instruction has a multitude of avenues and paths to reach the goal set forth to students within the classroom. Every lesson has a goal, however it is what we bring to the lesson and the strategies and tools to our students to assist them in meeting the goal at their own pace and level and with a level of confidence.
This class has defiantly opened my eyes winder and expanded my understanding of DI and ULD further. The ample amount of resources not only from the class itself but also from my fellow colleagues has been beneficial. Each new idea, site, or comment has supported my development of creating lesson in my classroom with DI in mind.
The utilization to technology before this class was apparent however not as much as I wanted to implement within the lesson plans. I feel now more confident in bringing forth activities with technology as a tool for students to apply their knowledge and understanding.
The immediate adjustments to be made in the following year are in the area of management. In our school, we have had the opportunity to have technology tools for student use. At times, the management of getting them passed out and ready and to have students somewhat on the same page is a goal I want to work on. What are things I can do to make it go more smoothly? What can I set up or strategies I can develop with my students for them to be involved in technology and the utilization of it in the lessons. I would like to create a more fluid environment and have taken the ideas, comments, and resources from this class to make this goal attainable. I look forward to working on this goal in the next year with my students’.
DI and UDL are topics I hope to implement more and discuss within my staff. The importance of collaborating with staff and meshing ideas and comments to benefit our students’ will create a successful environment and powerful attitude to achieve success.
