The “GAME” plan continues….
When reflecting upon my plan and absorbing the feedback from my colleagues I am able to modify my thoughts in what direction I want to continue within the classroom. The steps I have taken thus far enables me to have an understanding however to keep in mind there may be changes along the way. In regards to if I were finding information and resources I would say yes. I am asking our schools’ Technology educator and colleagues for advice and then in turn investigate further to find the answers. I feel lucky to have the resources to conduct my plan with modern and up to date technologies.
The action plan component seems to be on track. I have added the importance of educating students and their behavior online. By the suggestion of fellow colleague, I do feel this vital to incorporate into my action plan. As students go through creating the blog, they will also know how to socialize online with a larger and divers group of students.
In what I have learned there are many things. There is a process in which you follow when implement new lessons into the classroom. The best planner can sometimes not see unexpected factors, which can come up in when teaching the lesson. It is important to be knowledgeable of the content and have clear goals for your students’. To stay on top of the game and be flexible when things might not go the way you planned. To listen to advice and know your plan can be modified in order to fit the needs of your students’.
As I continue with my GAME plan, the process of thinking systematically and learning from the resources I hope to have a successfully unit. The resources have been and will be beneficial as I journey down this path.
In creating the setting, is there other tools or surrounding which can help in this effort?
The GAME Plan..The next step!
In keeping my goal in mind:
Goal-To further understand and implement these standards by utilizing technology within the classroom.
1.c. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
c. promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.
2.b. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
b.develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
In reviewing my Game Plan, I had to reflect upon the information I have learned thus far in the course. In doing so, I am gathering more tools and strategies to implement within the classroom in achieving success in meeting my goal. In fielding questions and answers for my goal, I looked to colleagues for support. In our building, we have a technology educator who assists in supplying websites of interest or can be a wealth of information when needed. This is a great stepping-stone to starting students in the right direction in meeting the goals I have in mind.
When reaching out to meet the goal for students working together collaboratively first starts with the environment. This is key for the educator to set the stage so to speak for students to start from within in the classroom. In having the resources such as a room which is inviting, a comfortable atmosphere, and risk taking benefits students in their journey through learning new technologies. The utilization of the mobile lab will support students to have instant access to the Internet and with their peers within the classroom. The introduction to the concept of blogging through a kwl chart and discussion can set a solid start. The action to take place next is for students to set up their accounts and then brainstorm topics of interest to explore more thoroughly. Students also need to be comfortable to discuss their ideas with their peers and receive feedback as they conduct their research. The learning style will look toward Linguistic Intelligence, which “is a capacity to understand and/or communicate effectively through written and spoken language.” (Cennamo, Ross & Ertmer, 2009 pg. 124) In doing so students will learn through the communication with others to further their understanding and develop comments to share with others online.
The resources are vital to accommodate students in their process of collaborating with others online. In asking fellow colleagues are there other things to consider, I am open minded and look forward to feedback.

THE "GAME" Plan!
In researching the technology website (NETS-T) I was enlightened with the standards presented in meeting the needs of our students. As with all content we want to meet all levels of students and educate them in the best possible manner and with the current modern tools. When integrating technology into the classroom we can reach our students at a higher level and bring content in a new perspective. In using technology, the options seem endless and having a concrete plan can benefit both the educator and the student. In viewing, the standards two stood out to explore in more detail. In taking these standards to the “GAME” plan (2010) the following lays out the details in exploring this lesson.
2.b. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
b.develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become
active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
In order to meet these goals it is important to attain background knowledge first and then set the foundation of what is expected from the students. First students will utilize tools in order to understand ideas in a creative way. Second for students to do this in a warm, inviting, and motivating environment to discover their answers in a self directed way.
Action-In taking action to meet the goals students will use online resources to work with each other. Students can research online the topics they are learning about and in order to discuss use blogs to interact with each other their thoughts and ideas. Students will learn how to set up and use blogs to communicate and collaborate their thoughts and answers they find with others. This will also include discussing information with their peers and learning how to present their findings.
In creating an environment for all this is to take place the educator must have the tools and surroundings to accommodate this learning. It is also important to give the power to the students to be in charge of their own discovery.
Monitor- As students learn, explore, and discover their information it is important to monitor if they are on track. In utilizing online resources and blogs, you must ask are their goals being met. Are students understanding how they influence the community they are part of online. In conducting their research, do they have all the tools? Is their environment a place where they feel comfortable asking questions and exploring their topic?
Evaluate and Extend- As the finished exploration ends was it successful? In evaluating, how students responded to the environment and the usage of the technological tools will give an answer to their process. As students use blogs, will they use it in the future and was it beneficial to expressing their thoughts. In stepping back and reflecting upon the activities did I meet the goals and expectations set forth from the beginning?
Whoa! This has been a huge exploration on the break down of meeting goals, or just two goals in technology. It seems to have blown me away in what goes into in writing this into a word format. At times as an educator, you do this frequently however; this has brought me to a deeper understanding of what goes into a lesson step by step. This has definitely been a learning experience.
